Star Wars: The Force Awakens soundtrack vinyl etched with ridiculous 3D spacecraft holograms

The music in Star Wars: The Force Awakens might not measure up to John Williams’ greatest work, but the Force is undeniably strong with the vinyl soundtrack. Vinyl geeks and Star Wars nerds alike will be able to appreciate the soundtrack’s unique artwork, which features 3D holograms of a TIE fighter and the Millennium Falcon etched into the actual records.

Created by Tristan Duke — the same artist responsible for the floating angel artwork on Jack White’s “Ultra” Lazaretto vinyl — the holograms spin around as the record moves on the turntable, creating a “hovering” effect that’s… well, it’s pretty goddamn cool, is what it is. At this rate, the soundtrack for Episode VIII will come in the form of an actual spaceship, so better start saving up those portions.

The double-LP Force Awakens vinyl will be released via Disney Music Emporium on June 17th, and it’s currently available to pre-order from Amazon for $47.99. Seems like a pretty fair ask for the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. Check out a photo of the vinyl below, and see the video above for an in-depth look into how it was made.
