Victim's dog bites sex attacker

A sex attacker was bitten by the dog of a victim he targeted in a field in Greater Manchester.

The 32-year-old woman was walking at Fields Farm Road, Hattersley, on Sunday when the man pushed her to the ground.

The woman was punched in the face in the attack, which stopped when her dog bit the man on the leg. The woman was left "extremely shaken", police said.

Officers are hoping for information from people who may have seen or know the injured man.

He ran off towards Waterside Road after the dog bit him.

'Isolated incident'

Det Insp Iain Foulkes, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "The victim has understandably been left traumatised by this attack and it is vital we catch the man responsible.

"He was bitten on the calf by the victim's dog and I am keen to speak to anyone that may have seen or know a man with an injury to his leg like this.

"I would like to reassure the community that this is an isolated incident that we are taking very seriously."

Police said women walking at night should stick to well-lit areas and keep in groups.

The attacker is described as white, aged 35 to 40 years, 6ft tall and medium build.

He had very light blond hair, which was short with a fringe and was wearing a light-coloured jacket with dark grey shiny tracksuit bottoms.
